Brunch

Breakfast food is perhaps what I love the most but unfortunately breakfast is something I often don't have the luxury to have.  This weekend was an exception.  And I decided to use up what I already have in my fridge for Brunch 1:  Onion & Prosciutto Frittata.  And yes, I like to garnish what I serve!  This was the protein that I thought would be enough to fuel me for my skiing lessons....

Brunch #2 was inspired from the remaining Maple Syrup that was a gift from my friend Tina when I was in Vancouver.  I didn't have pancake mix but I had milk and eggs and B and I decided to pick up some Challa bread for French Toast which we both had been craving for a while.  And with a hint of orange zest, the toast is made!

I write this as I watch the Bears' slow demise from the NFC championship against the Packers.  When I turned the TV on, it was almost the end of the first half, and the Bears are down by 14 and I have the same gut feeling that I did back in 2007 when they faced the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.  Maybe this time my gut will be wrong.  But I digress.

This weekend was my brunch weekend with B!

Almost like Garfield

Five days ago, my friend had asked me to fish-sit for their goldfish as her toddler might be upset if they come home from their Florida vacation with a dead fish.  I had told her that it's quite easy to replace - so long as Hannah doesn't see floating unmoving flipped fish in the bowl!  Her request reminded me of the time I kept three fish in a small aquarium while in Chicago - but this is a separate story and I don't think I captured that one on film.

When I said sure, drop it off, her only question was: Is Keiva still there?

Keiva the cat.

She of course had shown interest with the little creature that swims!  I found her sitting next to the fish bowl when I got home today and I couldn't resist snapping pictures (I only wish I was quick enough to grab my Rebel; the moment I held it, the cat jumped off - perhaps realizing I've gathered too much evidence for the defense of the fish).

Oh, did I mention my friend actually left me two goldfish?
