The Great Escape

While watering the plants and herbs in my patio the other day, I discovered this!  A pretend basil leaf!  A katydid.  Last year, there was a "singing" one hanging on the morning glory vines.  It was gone before a snapshot was even attempted.  I sneaked back in the house to grab the camera, and closed the screen door behind me as I got out (so Keiva won't bat it off) and clicked away.
But it promptly sensed my presence....
And started heading up....
And further up the wall....

And to the side and up.... Until I can no longer chase after it.

I wonder when it will return.

Pusa!

I don't have a pet.  I was close to keeping one illegally while in Chicago but ended up driving down the city to get the bluish little kitten I found under my car to the animal shelter (because I didn't want to break the no pet rules in the apartment).  And when I moved to Grand Rapids and was contemplating on getting my own place, I almost got a house with a yard because I wanted to have a big dog.  My own security reasons made me choose to have a condo instead.  And I thought it would be cruel for a big dog not to have its own yard, so I dropped my intention of having a pet altogether.

Then I met B, who has Keiva.  The Cow Cat.  She actually let me pet her belly the first time I met her.  And now she's used to condo living (the only thing she hasn't gotten use to is the car ride) -- she gets to stay with me in the city when the weather is too warm out for her to enjoy B's yard.  I didn't realize how much a cat sleeps in a day until I was living with one.  And that the cat can have a routine with me around the house.

And look at that pink furry paws!   This pusa is a keeper.
